Your studio’s trust matters.
This notice explains the information Dancer Lab uses to provide studio management, lessons, payments, messages, and the iPhone app.
Information used by Dancer Lab
We process account and contact details, studio and teacher profiles, schedules, lesson notes, student preferences, messages, package credits, and transaction records that you or your studio provide. Device identifiers and notification choices are used when you enable iPhone notifications.
Why it is used
The information supports authentication, scheduling, communications, package purchases, credit accounting, studio reporting, support, security, and other features you choose to use. Dancer Lab does not sell personal information or use it for cross-app tracking.
Services that help operate the platform
Dancer Lab uses service providers for hosting and authentication, payment processing, email, text messaging, Apple push notifications, and, for the optional Ask assistant only, OpenAI. Payment-card details are entered into Stripe’s payment experience rather than stored by Dancer Lab.
The Ask assistant and OpenAI
Ask is an optional assistant in the studio workspace and the student portal, on the web and in the iPhone app. It answers questions in plain language and can propose changes, such as booking a lesson or sending a message. To write its answers, Dancer Lab uses an AI service provided by OpenAI. Nothing else in Dancer Lab uses OpenAI.
When someone uses Ask, Dancer Lab sends OpenAI:
- the question as it was typed, and the earlier questions and answers in the same conversation;
- the Dancer Lab records the assistant reads to answer it, limited to what that person’s role can already see: for example names, lesson times and statuses, packages and credits, goals, practice assignments and timeline notes, and, for studio owners and managers, payments, package orders, leads and camp registrations.
Ask’s tools do not send email addresses, phone numbers, payment-card details, or passwords from Dancer Lab’s records. Anything a person types into a question is sent as written, so we recommend not typing sensitive details such as health information into Ask.
OpenAI processes this information as our service provider, only to produce the answer, under its API data terms. Those terms do not permit OpenAI to use it to train its models.
Ask never changes anything on its own. Every booking, message, or other change it proposes waits for the person’s approval, and payments and refunds always ask. Dancer Lab keeps a record of each Ask conversation with the studio’s workspace, including the question, the answer, the records it read, and the changes made, so the studio can review what the assistant did. In the iPhone app, Ask explains this and asks for agreement before it is first used. Not using Ask leaves every other feature unchanged.
Your choices
You can change notification preferences in the app. Signed-in iPhone users can request permanent account deletion from Settings. Dancer Lab records the request immediately, disables mobile notifications, and completes the deletion within seven days. Studio ownership may need to be transferred or closed safely first. Some transaction, tax, dispute, fraud-prevention, and security records may be retained where required by law or legitimate business obligations. Contact privacy@dancerlab.com to request access or correction of account information.
